The far west of Cornwall holds a particular rich concentration of sites, many of them dating from the era when this region was an important source of tin, traded as far away as the Mediterranean. Further north, the Neolithic vestiges strewn across Bodmin Moor and nearby Dartmoor date from the period before climate change and ecological over-reach made the uplands uninhabitable.
