The iconic circle of sarsen stones on Salibury Plain is merely one among several large-scale prehistoric monuments in this corner of Wiltshire. Dating back to the early fourth millennium BC, the wider ceremonial landscape includes several early Neolithic long barrows, an enormous cursus excavated around 3,400 BC and several impressive cemeteries dating from the dawn of the Bronze Age.
