'Rivers in Prehistory' MAIDSTONE MUSEUM with David R Abram **7PM EVENING SHOW**

£14.00

Join us at Maidstone Museum in North Kent ON THE EVENING of Wednesday July 22nd at 7PM for an illustrated talk by author-photographer David R Abram.

To coincide with the Medway River Pilgrimage 2026, David will be sharing some of his astonishing aerial photos of prehistoric sites across Britain to explore the many and wonderful ways our ancestors in the Neolithic and Bronze Age used rivers and streams as part of their ceremonial monuments. From the megalithic long barrows of the Medway Valley to the giant henges and burial mounds of Wessex, waterways formed an integral part of religious ritual and experience for thousands of years. Re-discovering this connection, David argues, can help us deepen our relationship both with the land around us, and the people who inhabited it in the distant past.

David will be selling and signing copies of his best selling book, the Aerial Atlas of Ancient Britain, and there will be opportunities to view the museum’s superb collection of prehistoric artefacts, including some from the Medway chambered tombs, which archaeologists have proven date from the very earliest phase of farming and herding in Britain.

‘Revelatory!’ Josh Kranz, Bath.

‘A fabulous spiritual flight across the ancient countryside’ Edward Young, Sturminster Newton

‘Astounding photography’ Prof Alice Roberts, Bristol

Please note: this ticket is for the EVENING event, not the afternoon one.
